Learn more about David Gillmeister and how he came to be the Temple Area Director.

When and How did you get started with Birdcreek Roofing?

Originally, Nate and I met at a Mexican restaurant in Temple. Nate introduced himself and asked what I did, and I said roofing! He started picking my brain and learned I had been in the business for over 40 years. When we first met, Nate was in the process of starting Birdcreek Roofing, and six months later — he asked if I would join. At the time I was in a family roofing business of 42 years and being in their 80’s — and they decided to sell. Needless to say, the timing was great and the rest is history.

Why is Birdcreek Roofing a good fit for you?

Birdreek Roofing was a great fit for me because I wasn’t interested in running a business anymore. I was happy to come work for Nate and contribute my knowledge. I also enjoy the networking and the hands-on approach of this role.

What area(s) do you serve?

I serve Temple and surrounding communities, including Bell County and out west to Lampasses.

What is your favorite thing about your community?

I’ve served this area for forty-two plus years. I love that it’s not a big city — no traffic and easily accessible.

Which step of the Birdcreek Roofing Process do you most enjoy and why? Consultation, Construction, or Follow-Through?

I enjoy the initial visit with the homeowner when you let them know what you bring to the table. What sets Birdcreek apart is that we love talking to people. There isn’t a question a homeowner could ask that I wouldn’t know how to answer, which makes them feel at ease knowing they’re in good hands. We stress quality and explain our entire process and physically walk-through the construction process so they know what to expect. It’s during the Consultation that we gain their trust, their business and begin a relationship.

Give an example of #HelpingTexasHomeowners?

Over the years, seeing the look of relief on people’s faces after 4-6 inches of rain when we stop the damage and provide a permanent solution. Once we show up, homeowners go from overwhelmed to relieved. I love helping people in time of need, and roofing is a way to do that.
